503 and 403 errors + issues with dl.free, 1fichier, solidfiles etc

 If you get the errors 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable or 403 Forbidden/Access Denied there is a connection or access problem. The file is there, but you can't reach it. The server could for example be overloaded due to too many simultaneous downloads.

Please don't comment about 503 and 403 in the thread. These kinds of errors happen all the time, learn how to deal with them instead. Many posters don't return to their threads and read the replies.

Solution #1

1. When you are on the error page, click on the onion icon to the left of the URL bar.

2. In the pop-up window that opens, click the blue button "New Circuit for this Site". This procedure often has to be repeated several times until it works. You can also use Crtl+Shift+L, it is the same thing.

3. If it still does not work, try again later.

Solution #2

1. Edit the URL in the URL bar and change the server number. For example, edit "https://cdn-34..." to "https://cdn-15..." and press enter.

2. Try any number in the range of 02 to 35 until the download starts.

The https://1fichier.com/ host often gives you a waiting time. This can be bypassed with the method described in the first solution above. Use Crtl+Shift+L until the waiting time disappears.

dl.free.fr  (Updated February 2021)

In February 2021 the host http://dl.free.fr introduced a block which makes it almost impossible to download dl.free.fr links from the Tor network, it only works occasionally. The solution is to go through a web proxy site. Visit one of the proxy sites below, copy and paste the dl.free.fr link on the site and click Enter.

is extremely popular and sometimes gets overloaded. You will get the messages "Erreur 500 - Erreur interne du serveur" or "Trop de slots utilisés". The web proxy sites can also get overloaded. Just try again later.

There have been issues with dl.free.fr before. In 2019 thousands of child porn links were deleted. After that they blocked uploads from the Tor network, but you could still upload through a web proxy.

If you download from https://www.sendspace.com/ ignore all messages to activate Javascript. It is not needed, you can download safely without turning Javascript on. Never enable Javascript in your Tor browser settings.
