Any JDownloader2 users out there? I've only been using JDownloader2 (JDL2, for short) for a few weeks, so I don't yet know all the methods that might be available. I hope someone can help mefigure out some things.
1) Normally I don't have much of a problem with 1Fichier. If I D/L via the Tor browser I may have to Ctrl-L a few dozen times, but eventually I get the files D/Led. At first, in JDL2 everything went quickly and with no retries (at least none that I had to deal with; maybe JDL2 handled them). But the last few days, when I copy 1Fichier links to the clipboard, after the first few D/Ls I get a (daily?) "Download limit reached" message. Is there a work-around for that? Ctr-L in the Tor browser doesn't seem to affect this.
2) If I copy Siasky links to the clipboard, they don't work with JDL2 because the middle part of the url is replaced by an ellipsis (...) With other obfuscated links I would just copy the url from the address bar on the D/L screen, but Siasky bypasses that step and goes right to the d/l dialog box, which doesn't let me copy the url.
Is there another way to use JDownloader2 with these types of links? Solidfiles, Anon, Bayfiles, and others work great with JDL2. It's only these two that are being difficult.
3) I'm sure there must be a way to queue or schedule a series of D/Ls, rather than having to "Start all downloads", but if so, I haven't found it. (I'm probably just blind.) Or is the "All" option the best way? (If there are more than 6 files in the queue the rest wait until one of the six finishes and then takes its turn.) TIA for your help!
(P.S. Of course I can just d/l the files via the Tor browser, but lately it has been very slow and fragile with more than 2-3 d/ls at a time, crashing frequently. JDownloader2 is so much faster.)
The Answer is:
1) Are you absolutely sure that JD uses Tor instead of your real IP? Did you set everything up in a way that JD has no chance of accessing the internet without Tor (VM / Tails / Whonix)? -- I would never trust JD in any slightly insecure environment as they bundle malware with their default installer last time I checked. So I have to assume bad intent and dishonesty regarding the JD developers.
2) Do not copy the text you see on the page. Right click on the link and select "Copy Link Location"
3) JD has a 'Settings' menu where the number of concurrent downloads can be set. Try to reduce the number in that menu.
I've read that using JD on anything else than Whonix is basically a very bad idea, for the reasons Grumpt mentioned. Whether you're on Whonix or not, you should browse the other JD topics in this section to make sure you're doing things right.
If JD is so much faster, tells you you have reached your daily limit...I'd stop using it and read extensively before (maybe) resuming downloading with it.
Otherwise, the tools section of this forum has great bash scripts covering the main filehosts, and they're a lot less of a blackbox than JD - so more secure and harder to screw up with. They're just as efficient so I'd look into that if I were you.
