Do you keep your Windows shallbags clean? This post is only for Windows users. If you don't know what Windows shallbags are, then read on.
Not cleaning Windows shallbags means, your adversary, LEA, your friends, your family or anyone who has physical access to your Windows PC may be able to see, maybe 100.000 telltale folder paths that you used to access your most private boy vids and pics on your encrypted storage devices since installing your PC, probably many years ago. All what is needed is a little freeware tool named "Shellbag Analyzer & Cleaner v1.30". A professional tool from privazer.com (please only from this company).
NOTE: The important, must-have "PrivaZer" tool does NOT clean the Shellbags. Now the little Shellbag tool ONLY cleans the Shellbags inside the Windows registry. It cleans the bulk of unnecessary data that compromise your security.
- Just execute it (or from a stick). There is no installation.
- Click the "Analyze" button.
- It only analyzes (for a few minutes if you never cleaned).
- Shows when you opened the folders like so "dd.mm.yyyy hh.mm.ss".
- Shows the folder name.
- Shows the complete path, including the drive letter.
- Shows Type: System | Existing Folder | (unmounted) / Old / deleted Folders
- (Slot number)
- (Slot key)
- Creation date
- Modification date
- Access date
- Click the Clean button.
- A new window "Clean selected ShellBags" appears.
- Select which ShellBags should be cleaned.
- Choose at least "Deleted folders"
- Below, under "Backup", mark "Save my preferences" (default).
- Inspect but leave alone "Advanced options".
- Click "OK" to start cleaning. Needs a few seconds.
- In rare cases a window pops up with hints, requesting your technical understanding.
REMARKS
- I recommend cleaning the shellbags daily or more often.
- Also before Windows updates that create restore points.
- Important to know that shallbegs are also stored in Windows restore points.
- Your adversary will look into all existing restore points.
- Never ever store private information on your HD.
- 2 comprehensive cleaning tools are PrivaZer and ccleaner, both as freeware.
- Using the above mentioned 3 tools regularly is by no means sufficient
-to protect your privacy. A forensic scientist always finds data
-that put you behind bars. RIP Windows.
-The MRU (most recently used) functionality of many programs must be disabled.
STORIES
-I once deleted nearly all of the Windows folder with admin rights
-in a test system and could recover it. Windows is rather unbreakable.
-I once used to delete Shallbags manually and learned that shallbeg no. 1
-should not be deleted, or you loose the configuration of the desktop.
-Which was not a disaster. All other shellbags could be safely deleted by hand.
